BiG CiTy LiFe

A country girl in a big city
Suddenly so lost

All the girls
So dressed up and pretty
But at what cost?

She can't walk
Her heels are so high
Her legs wobble each step

And her shorts are too tight.
Too fat? Too wide?
Or just shopping for something too small?

Squeezing in, thinking she's thin,
Living in her own little world.

And over there -
With the pigtails in her hair,
There's a cute little girl?

And a skirt pulled up so high.
She looks too young
To be acting so dumb;
Her butt the exhibition in the air.

Make up, colours
Noise and screams
Music and laughing.

Crack in the road,
But, who can see?
I am busy typing.

Like my heels?
Watch me squeal as
I check my phone and fall.

Hang head in shame,
Rejoin the game
And fall into the crowds.

Keep on trotting.
More shopping?

Must buy. Never stop.
Besides there's a hole in my stocking.

Good Night

Sleepy eyes say goodnight
My mind closes down

The day is over
Night has fallen

Time to dream

October Daily

Writing under pressure,
Forcing every line
Doesn't mean that what you do
Will win,
Even if you can beat the time.

A daily challenge -
Counting words,
Rhymes,
Sonnets and prose.

They'd all sound great
If only they could have
Flow,
Rhyme
Or meaning.

But every word
That's mine on here
And hidden away in books
Does just that -
It states a fact,
Even if heavily disguised.

Best read the words
And forget where you heard
Their origin and beginning.

From a heavy heart,
To a few words
That prompt and start
Works of wonder and mystery.

Just enjoy what you see,
Soak up each word,
And never question their history.

The Tokyo conform!

Tokyo, Tokyo,
Wherefore art thou Tokyo?
Technology is rife
and the people act like Pinnochio.

Must dress smart,
Must conform,
Society is so demanding.

Must work hard
Must play the right card
Or, it's me my boss is reprimanding.

Heels, make up, dressing higher
And higher goes my skirt.

Boots and blush,
Brave the rush
And charge through the crowds.

Push, push,
Click, click,
Emails, phones.

Noisy people,
Angry people,
Customer drones.

I have a headache,
I can't see.
The lights are so blinding.

Now, it's night,
Tokyo is so bright and full of friendly faces.

Smile and Laugh
And look around
And remember what a great place this is.

selfish

the day began with my toes walking wet in the morning dew
the sun was rising and the green spread so far in the distance

how lucky am i
to see the sky and see the world underneath it

i’m watching an orangutan
struggle for his homeland
against man
his greatest enemy

we are selfish,
unaware
or sometimes we just ignore

horrid minds
horrid eyes
desire
lust
greed

we don’t suffer
we just enjoy
we walk around free

our homeland is safe,
and deep breaths we can take
relaxed and free

Hiding Place

I’m hiding from the world -
I’m sure no one can see me
I’m safe in here -
Aren’t I?

All around me
Hides, conceals -
No one knows I am here.

I’m sitting cosy
Feeling safe,
Finally my mind is calm.

I hear a rustle,
I hear a shake
And suddenly, there you are!

time

The grey metal clock
Slowly moves.
Time tip-toes when you stare.
Heavy schedules.
Pressing routines.
No time to think,
So much time to wait.

Sparkling fields of freedom
Space to
Run
Sing
Shine.
Time is mine,
Time to think.

But not too much...
