I went to the store today,
I couldn’t believe my eyes-
So much materialism,
So many disguises
To hide what’s underneath.
What is it?
I don’t know.
Hidden lies
Never show
The depth or lack underneath.
Warm is the heart that cares.
Cold is the girl who only cares for her hair.
What does it matter
This skirt that you buy?
Think of the girl who made it -
Does a tear not come to your eye?
Layers and covers,
Anything can hide
The truth we do not want to see inside.
Look away if you dare
Heartless cold stare
Looking in the mirror.
Like your new frock?
Trying a new look?
Enjoy it while you can
For it’s all you have.
A superficial scream inside
Shows nothing but wares
A collection of tears.
Ripped and jagged,
Can you mend?
